Valentine's Day: A day of flowers, chocolates, kisses, conversation hearts, and love. By most definitions, these are all things that encourage joy. Yet, this day also has a way of displaying a bright spotlight on the things you may not have, like a romantic relationship.
Single? That's OK! Here's why:
Don't put love in a box! Who says love is only for those in romantic relationships? Love is for everyone. You can love your friends, family, dog, cat, neighbor, grandma, kid you babysit... you get the point! It's important to keep perspective about this day; let it be about love, not simply a date.
- Do not define yourself by your relationship status. You are WAY MORE than that. Understand this and believe it. Define your own identity for yourself.
- Use this day to celebrate with everyone you love. Take your dad out to dinner, plan a girl's night with friends, send your grandma a card. It doesn't have to be romantic to be Valentine's Day.
- Focus on you. Use this reminder to focus on yourself. A day of self-love never hurt anyone! Book a massage, a manicure, or rent your favorite movie. Being your own friend and valentine might be just the ticket to the best night you could have!
What did you do this Valentine's Day?
